The market for VLE's is very different to the market for websites. In our opinion school's need an individual website to reflect their uniqueness. Of course you need Content management so that your staff can run the site. You also need a company that can work with your staff and create something that they are happy managing. This is not a one size fits all. We can work with you to create a website that meets all of your requirements at a fair price and deliver it when we say. We have worked in many school's over the last ten years, delivering websites, content for web sites and some very ambitious digital projects. We have worked with hard to reach pupils, gifted and talented pupils, senior management, admin staff, technical staff and some hard to reach teachers (though most are gifted and talented).
Rushey Mead School: When things go wrong
We built the Rushey Mead website three years ago and worked with staff to make sure that the admin areas were clear and easy to use. Normally when we have completed a Content managed website the job is over. The school can edit and create new pages and there is no further need for us.
Of course the idea that an IT product can be left forever and' it just works' will raise eyebrows with most people. Our system is built with industry standard code and it will and does work in the background without maintenance.
However, Leicester use the EMBC to host thoer school websites and the people that run EMBC were due to change. The date for the server switch was set and we were ready to ensure that the switchover was as seemless as possible.
Switching two weeks earlier than stated wrong footed everyone... What should have been a few hours at the most of regular maintenance turned into an unscheduled weekend of unnecessary overtime.
Why have we included this negative story? Some companies could have seen this as an opportunity to deliver a very large invoice - we didn't. Some may no longer be trading. ZCT value loyalty and fairness and we believe they are keys to build a better business. We also have very low overheads and a twenty year track record - yet more reasons to consider ZCT.
Sir Jonathan North Community College: Light's, Camera, Action
We have worked at Sir Jonathan North twice now, both on Adobe Flash projects. This industry standard vector graphics programme can be intimidating for first time users so we leapt to the challenge of introducing primary students, albeit gifted and talented, to Flash. Everyone produced something to be proud of and it was clearly the first time many of them had used timeline based and vector based programmes.
The second time we worked at this school we had a whole week to explore different types of animation. The end results were assembled into ePortfolios and the participants got to make custom covers for their take home DVD's as well as multiple soundtracks. The week was followed by a showing of the children's work at Leicester's premiere arthouse cinema The Phoenix.
